Ta Dah….Granny Rose cushion

Finally finished my granny rose cushion – and I’m so pleased with it – and I especially love the sweet picot edging :-) A very big thanks to Astri from Apple Blossom Dreams for the amazing tutorial on the cushion. There’s a really interesting post on her blog about where the pattern originated from – it’s a great story.

I’ve already had a few requests for more cushions, which I’m chuffed about – it’s fun and a lot easier making something that you love yourself!

I’m currently working on a granny stripe blanket – using Kool Kotton and it’s new replacement – Cotton On. It’s growing on me, literally – I’ve got a long way to go yet and lots more rows to crochet, but I like having something that I can just pick up mid row – and that doesn’t include any counting! It’s my ‘chilling’ blanket! I’ve got a baby blanket to make for June – must get on with choosing yarn for that and I’ve got a special blanket request to make for July – hmmmm…..better get yarn shopping I think!

Bye or now……see you soon :-)

Granny Rose C.A.L. Cushion…

We’re up to week four on Astri’s C.A.L. Granny rose cushion. I’ve put all the squares together and made a granny square for the back. I have to say, making the ‘simple’ back side was fun…..I really struggled to get a decent straight square! After several attempts, referring to a number of books, you tube and Rachael from CleverCheshireCats, I eventually got it acceptably level….haha! A big thanks to Rachael for her help! Who would think that something so simple would end up such a problem.

Anyway, I’m delighted with how the rose front has turned out. I’m not mad on the look of the colours but I didn’t really have much choice when I bought the yarn. I’ve already got my next one planned – I think I’m going to stick to cotton yarn or at least a decent quality wool – That was part of my twisting granny square problem.

If you want to have a go at making Astri’s lovely cushion, you can find a link to her blog in the post below or in my side bar – Apple Blossom Dreams. I’m looking forward to next Tuesday when I will be able to complete the cushion ;-) See you then.

Granny Roses…

Hello again…..twice in one day! I’ve just finished the leaf border on my CAL Granny roses and thought I’d upload them ….. well actually, I’m trying to upload them from my iPad … and it’s proving to be rather a challenge …. but I’m determined to do it….so fingers crossed it all works! Just need to locate all the right buttons…..lol! Have a look on Astri’s blog for her great tutorial.

Here’s the 12 granny roses, just waiting for their final round next week…can’t wait!

Crochet A-Long roses…

Just thought I’d pop on to let  my crochet readers know about a fabulous crochet along tutorial that I’m following.  The super talented and very helpful Astri from Apple Blossom Dreams has posted a photo tutorial along with a helpful video on her blog.  The instructions are very concise and, along with the video, extremely easy to follow…..if I can do it, anyone can…..haha!  So far, I’ve made 12 roses….and today we get the instructions on how to create the leaf look border.  The finished product will be a cushion…..or whatever you want to make it into.

Many thanks to sweet Astri for posting such a wonderful tutorial….I really do appreciate the time it’s taken you…it’s very kind of you to share your creations :-)

A circle and some stacks of roses ;-)  The pink’s showing a touch more vibrant than in real life….my camera a didn’t seem to like the photo shoot location!  I’m still struggling to find bright colours in good makes of yarn.  I don’t have lots of scraps because I’ve only been crocheting properly a few months.  So if anyone can recommend some good online shops I’d love to hear from you :-)

I’m off to start on the leaf borders….Astri has another great video to follow!

See you soon!

Ripple blanket…

Hi there…I’ve got lots of photos to share of my ripple blanket….the light wasn’t good on some of them and they differ so much depending on which computer screen I use!  I used the utterly gorgeous Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino yarn for the blanket – it’s so soft and snuggly.  Not sure how many 50g balls I got through….quite a few, but it was well worth it.  The edging was finished with a picot stitch….I got the inspiration from here …thank you.  The ripple pattern is from Attic24.

We had some visitors to our garden today….not the feathered variety, though we do get lots of those!  Seamus and Yogi came to see us!  Beautiful blue sky and lovely weather for a hack :-)

Well, off to watch Dancing On Ice now…..and then to decide what to crochet next…….hmmmm…………..decisions decisions!

See you all soon :-)

The finished bag…

Well, I have finally finished my crochet bag!  Actually, I finished it a few weeks ago but haven’t got around to uploading my photos.  I really enjoyed making it – progress was quick and easy, just as I like it.  Thanks to Attic24 for the wonderful tutorial.  I’m going to attempt to add a lining to the inside…it should finish it off nicely.

Thanks to my model – you did a great job!

I’m nearly finished with my ripple blanket.  Just a few rows to go and then a few rows of edging…loved making this blanket…really don’t want it to end!  It’s not that I’m stuck for things to make…..hmmmmm, I have lots of things on the ‘to make’ list….deciding what to make next is the problem!

I’m still enjoying photography…..seems everyone else in the family is enjoying it too….here’s some shots of one our outings…..

Spot the photographers!

Seems they’ve got the photography bug too!

Hope to see you all very soon….with photos of my finished ripple!

:-)

Some crochet makes…

Hi there!  It’s long past Christmas but I hope you had a happy time – and a great New Year!  We had a fairly quiet, relaxing holiday…..lots of time to watch films, read and crochet :-)  We’ve got a new learner driver in the house on Christmas Eve…..he is so excited about it all!  Lessons are going well so far….sure it won’t be long before he passes!

I’m still hooked on crochet – I love every second of it.  I’ve got so many things going on in my head that I want to make – and a fair stash of yarn in all thicknesses, fibres and colours!  Wow, I’m struggling to know where to put it all.  I’ve found some super crochet blogs full of wonderful inspiration and fabulous creations.  It’s great that there are folk out there that are happy to share their ideas, patterns, yarns etc…..it really helps a beginner like me.  Thank goodness, too, for You Tube…..that’s helped me sooooo much.

Thought I’d show you some work in progress.  It’s a bag…..I got the pattern from Lucy at Attic24…..her blog is incredible……!  I’ve got one more handle to make and then some flowers before I sew all the ends in and put it together.  I actually think that the inside looks quite nice…..love the pattern of the stitches…..and all those gorgeous colourful tails………….haha!

This is the inside…..lots of weaving in to do!

…..some other crochet bits and pieces…..

This ‘Flora Rabbit’ pattern is from Greedy For Colour Blog…..thanks for sharing!

…..a bowl made with bits of Bamboo yarn – pattern from Bunny Mummy…thanks again!

…..and finally, a crochet jar jacket…..pattern from Attic24….I just added some scallops to the top and a tie :-)   I’m going to make a flower for it too :-)

So, lots of crocheting going on….haha.  Hope to get the bag finished over the next few days so hopefully I can post a picture of it next week along with photos of my WIP ripple blanket.  Hopefully the weather will be kind over the weekend so that I can get out and try out my new lens!  I missed my chance today – it was a perfect day for some great shots!

Thanks for stopping by – have a good weekend :)

Merry Christmas…

It really has  been a while since I updated my blog!  I’ve not been making cards at all.  I’m totally ‘hooked’ on my latest hobby – crocheting!  I’m loving making all things bright, cute and sweet!  I’ve made this snowman and Christmas tree – I’ve put the photo on here for Claudia and Agnes to see!  I’ve been busy making a few tree decorations, an owl, a teddy and some yummy blankets.  Hopefully, I’ll update my crochet’ ta-dah’s’ (as they say in crochet blog world) after Christmas.

Hope you have a wonderful Christmas :-)

Hello…..it’s been a while….

Well, where has the time gone too?  It’s hard to believe that it’s been six months since I last posted!  I’ve enjoyed my bloggimg  break…..though I’ve still been keeping an eye on all the lovely cards you’ve been making….and adding to my ever growing craft collection!

I’ve totally been inspired by all the wonderful new products that My Favorite Things has brought out….just adore their Die-Namics range and Pure Innocence stamps :)

My sweet friend Gunilla challenged me to make a round easel card a few weeks ago….we  agreed to use a Hanglar image….my absolute favourite make of stamps :)   I’m entering this card to Just Magnolia/hAnglar sTanglar challenge…..where there is a DT call….and an optional extra use of buttons.

Check out Gunilla’s easel card here….I’m sure it will be beautiful :)

See you soon.
